Arizona problem gambling resources
Arizona funds more help for gambling problems than most people realize. Here is what exists, what it costs (mostly nothing) and how to use it, alongside treatment at Outpost once we open.
Arizona gambling helpline: 1-800-NEXT-STEP
Arizona's statewide problem gambling line is 1-800-NEXT-STEP (1-800-639-8783). You can also text NEXTSTEP to 53342. It is run through the Arizona Department of Gaming's Division of Problem Gambling, and calls are free and confidential. Nationally, the National Council on Problem Gambling's helpline is 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738), available 24 hours a day by call or text, with the older 1-800-522-4700 number still active.
Self-exclusion in Arizona
The Division of Problem Gambling runs a self-exclusion program that bans you from every casino in Arizona, and a separate self-exclusion for event wagering (sports betting) and fantasy sports contests. You choose a term of 1, 5 or 10 years. It is irrevocable: once filed, it cannot be shortened or cancelled for the full term, which is exactly what makes it useful.
To enroll, you download the form, complete it, have it notarized (a remote notary option exists), attach a current photo and mail it to the Department. Questions go to the self-exclusion office at 602-290-2555. The program also points to tools that block gambling transactions at ATMs and block gambling websites on your devices.
Self-exclusion is a barrier, not a treatment. It removes the easiest access points while you do the work of recovery. Once we open, we will help clients file it as part of their treatment plan.
State-funded treatment (TAP)
Through its Treatment Assistance Program, the Division of Problem Gambling subsidizes counseling with a network of more than 20 approved providers across the state. It covers people with a gambling problem and also family members, friends and others affected by someone else's gambling. Ask the helpline about eligibility and providers near you.
Where Outpost fits
State programs are a strong first step and a strong aftercare layer. What they do not provide is a structured, in-person residential program built only for gambling disorder. That is what Outpost Recovery is preparing to offer, along with outpatient care. Self-exclusion, the helpline and peer support will work well alongside treatment.
Numbers and program details above were checked in September 2026 against the Arizona Department of Gaming and National Council on Problem Gambling. Programs change; confirm details with the state before relying on them.
