Gambling rehab: what to expect

Rehab for gambling works much like rehab for other addictions: a clinical assessment, structured therapy, and a plan to stay well after you leave. Here is what the process will look like at Outpost once we open.

Gambling rehab: what to expect

Step 1: Confidential consultation

It starts with a confidential consultation. Our team will learn what is going on, answer questions about cost and logistics, and schedule a clinical assessment.

Step 2: Clinical assessment

A licensed clinician will evaluate your gambling, finances, mental health and any co-occurring conditions such as depression, anxiety or substance use. The clinical team will recommend the right level of care.

Step 3: Residential or outpatient treatment

Residential treatment will mean living on site with 24/7 support, away from the apps and the environment that fuel gambling. Outpatient treatment will provide structured, in-person sessions several days a week while you live at home. Both will include:

  • Individual therapy with certified gambling counselors
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy and relapse prevention
  • Group therapy focused only on gambling recovery
  • Financial recovery planning and accountability
  • Family sessions

Step 4: Aftercare

Before you finish, your team will build an aftercare plan: ongoing therapy, support groups such as Gamblers Anonymous, financial safeguards and a plan for high-risk moments like big game days.

How long is gambling rehab?

Length of stay will be based on clinical need and progress, not a fixed number of days. Your clinical team will review progress regularly and adjust the plan, including stepping down from residential to outpatient care.

Frequently asked questions

Is there such a thing as rehab for gambling?

Yes. Gambling disorder is treated with structured residential and outpatient programs, much like substance use disorders.

Who decides whether I need residential or outpatient care?

Our clinical team will make that recommendation after a full assessment.

Will my employer or family find out?

Treatment will be confidential and protected under HIPAA. Information will not be shared without your written consent.

What should I bring?

Once we open, we will send a checklist when your start date is set.
